It is important that you protect your system using circuit breakers and isolation switches where needed, mainly between solar panels and solar controller, between solar controller and batteries, between batteries and inverter and continue on to the ac system.

The solar system produces a large amount of power which is stored in batteries. It is critical that you treat this with respect, mistakes can be fatal. Keep metal away from batteries, earth everything except the batteries, and disconnect power before attempting maintenance, repairs, etc.

Correct Signage re: shutdown procedure, warnings, safety procedures, system labeling and system information is essential.
